Hello! My name is Susan, and I have taught for 25 years, mainly in elementary education. For most of my teaching career, I have been a Reading Specialist where I have helped hundreds of students to become successful readers! I have a Master's degree in K-12 Reading, a Reading Specialist endorsement, and an Education Specialist degree in School Administration. I know what it takes to help students achieve in reading. I have experience in all the foundational areas of reading, the Science of Reading, and Reading Comprehension instruction for all grade levels. I scaffold all lessons so that students can feel successful right from the start and feel motivated to keep working hard on the next level. My lessons progress from "I do, we do, to you do", allowing gradual release of teacher direction to independent student learning and achievement. I utilize many fun phonics and reading comprehension activities and a wide variety of student reading materials to keep learning fresh.
