I majored in mathematics in college and I've taught math for 16 years in mid-Michigan, including all courses from algebra I through AP calculus. I majored in mathematics in college and I've taught math for 16 years in mid-Michigan, including all courses from algebra I through AP calculus. For 15 of those 16 years I've taught AP calculus (my favorite course to teach) and algebra II. I try to show all my students the beauty of mathematics and I pride myself on not being complacent in my pedagogy. I’m always adjusting if evidence shows there is a better way to teach a concept!
Beyond that, I love working with individual students, identifying exactly where their misunderstanding starts and rebuilding from there. Every student's understanding is slightly different and I’m passionate about solving that puzzle to help students learn. I've done this in after-school tutoring sessions, summer school, and, obviously, every day in my classroom.
Over the course of my career, I've built a reputation for being dependable, hard-working, and a clear communicator, as well as being recognized as teacher of the year by my peers. Whether you're prepping for an AP exam or rebuilding foundational algebra skills, I'm here to help!
