Hi, I'm Kaz! I'm an upper level undergraduate student studying biology, chemistry, and environmental science. I am also a scientist studying salamanders, microbes, and the ocean. In my free time I love to be outside or playing games with friends!
I have professional experience teaching college and high school students as a supplemental instructor. I take a student first approach to learning. Teaching the student how to think about a subject in a way that is enjoyable to them is always my first priority- grades will follow. My goal will always be to help the student enjoy learning.
My sessions will be unique to each student, but will generally follow your syllabus (I am happy to deviate if requested!). Students will not be lectured at, but instead engage in active learning such as teaching back, drawing pathways, and completing activities. I also offer group tutoring- up to several students from the same class allows me to facilitate students teaching each other. Studies have shown that students taught this way (active learning, teaching others) learn significantly more!
If you have any questions regarding active learning or my personal philosophy, then feel free to reach out!
