I am a writing and communications professional with a strong academic and real-world background in helping others write clearly, confidently, and effectively. I hold a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Anthropology from Grand Valley State University and a Master of Arts in Strategic Communications from Michigan State University, along with additional certification in digital media and organizational communication for leadership. In my professional role as a Communications Specialist, I write, edit, and review content daily, including emails, news posts, presentations, and strategic communications, and I regularly coach others on improving clarity, structure, and audience-focused messaging.
In addition to my professional experience, I have over three years of mentoring experience, working one-on-one with colleagues, peers, and graduate students, and I am currently helping launch a formal mentoring program for a Women in Technology group at work. I frequently assist others with reviewing essays and papers, editing professional writing, preparing presentations, and building confidence for interviews. While my tutoring experience has been primarily informal and professional rather than classroom-based, it has consistently focused on personalized feedback, practical improvement, and helping individuals feel confident sharing their work.
My teaching style is encouraging, organized, and grounded in real-world application. I enjoy working with middle school, high school, college, and adult learners, tailoring each session to the student’s goals and experience level. I focus on building confidence alongside skill development so students not only improve their writing and communication skills, but also understand how to apply them independently moving forward.
