My name is Cinda! I have always had a passion for helping students discover confidence and success in math. I earned my Bachelor’s degree from Central Michigan University with a major in Mathematics and a minor in Reading, and later earned my Master’s degree in Reading from Western Michigan University. While I’m also qualified to work as a Reading Specialist, math has always been where my heart is. During my 35 years of teaching in middle schools, I taught 6th, 7th, and 8th grade math—including advanced courses and Algebra 1 for high school credit—and loved every minute of helping students grow and succeed. During the COVID pandemic, I also learned how to effectively teach and tutor students virtually, helping them stay engaged and supported even in an online setting.
Throughout my career, I’ve taught in many settings: full classrooms, small groups, and one-on-one sessions. I’ve also offered after-school Math Help, tutored students individually and in small groups, and coached MathCounts teams, softball, and cheerleading. Each of these experiences strengthened my ability to connect with students and support them in different ways.
Now that I’m retired, I’m excited to continue doing what I love—supporting students in math. I believe in meeting learners where they are and helping them move forward with encouragement and understanding. Every student learns differently, and I welcome any insights or resources from parents and students to help make our time together as effective and positive as possible. My goal is to help each student build confidence, master new skills, and even find enjoyment in math along the way.
