About Harsha

Bio

I graduated magna cum laude from Baylor University as a University Scholar, where I studied Biology, Medical Humanities, and Global Health. Through both my undergraduate and medical school education, I learned that I understand material best when instructors go beyond simply delivering information and instead make learning engaging, relatable, and personal. That philosophy strongly shapes how I approach tutoring today.

Through my work with student athletes, peers, and children with autism as a Registered Behavior Technician, I have developed a highly individualized teaching style. My goal is to ensure every student feels supported with a lesson plan that fits their learning style, strengths, and goals.

My sessions begin by getting to know the student and how they learn best. From there, I tailor each lesson to their needs and interests. I like to introduce topics in an engaging, approachable way before diving into the details, and I always reserve time for practice, review, and questions to reinforce new skills and build confidence.

I have experience tutoring undergraduate student athletes in subjects including math, genetics, biology, sociology, and psychology. I also worked as a Registered Behavior Technician for four years, supporting children from kindergarten through sixth grade, and served as a teaching assistant for two Medical Humanities courses, where I helped students strengthen conceptual understanding and academic writing.

In addition to academic tutoring, I have extensive experience guiding students through the college, graduate school, and medical school application process. I have helped students brainstorm and edit personal statements and essays, refine activity descriptions, build school lists, and present their experiences clearly and authentically. I am passionate about helping students feel confident not only in their academics, but also in how they tell their stories, and I especially enjoy working with students preparing for college or medical school.

Approved Subjects

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)

I am a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) with formal training in Applied Behavior Analysis and hands-on experience working directly with children diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder. In this role, I implemented individualized behavior intervention plans under the supervision of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst, focusing on skill acquisition, communication development, and behavior reduction strategies. I collected and analyzed data to monitor progress and adjust interventions to meet each learner’s needs. My experience working in structured, one-on-one settings has allowed me to develop patience, adaptability, and the ability to tailor instruction to a wide range of learning and communication styles. I bring this individualized and supportive approach to tutoring, helping students with ASD engage with academic material in a way that is accessible and effective for them.
Personal Statements

Personal Statements

I have extensive experience helping students and peers brainstorm, draft, and refine personal statements for college, graduate, and medical school applications. As a medical student with a background in medical humanities, I have received formal training in narrative writing, reflection, and communicating complex personal experiences clearly and effectively. I have worked closely with applicants to develop compelling stories, organize their ideas, and strengthen clarity, structure, and overall flow. I focus on helping students articulate their motivations and experiences in a way that is both authentic and impactful, while maintaining their unique voice. My goal is to guide students through a structured writing process that makes personal statement development more manageable, polished, and confident.
Psychology

Psychology

I am a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT), certified after completing 40 hours of formal training and passing the RBT certification exam. In this role, I applied principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) while working one-on-one with children with autism spectrum disorder, focusing on behavior, learning, and cognitive development. This experience strengthened my understanding of core psychological concepts such as reinforcement, conditioning, and behavior modification. I use this background to help students not only understand psychological theories, but also apply them to real-world scenarios and exam-style questions.
Study Skills

Study Skills

I have extensive experience helping students develop effective study strategies through my work as a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) and as a medical student managing a rigorous academic workload. In my RBT role, I used principles of Applied Behavior Analysis to support students in building focus, task initiation, and consistent study habits through individualized, structured approaches. I have worked with learners to break down complex tasks, improve organization, and develop systems for time management and retention. As a medical student, I apply and teach evidence-based strategies such as active recall, spaced repetition, and structured note-taking to help students study more efficiently. I focus on helping students build sustainable study systems that improve performance, reduce overwhelm, and promote long-term academic success.
