Hi there, my name is Cavan. I graduated from college with a double major in physics and mathematics (BS) and am a 6th year PhD candidate specializing in nuclear physics. During my undergraduate education, I worked as a tutor in both physics and mathematics for more than 2 years and in my first year of graduate studies I served as a tutor specializing in college level first semester algebra based intro physics. My formal tutoring experience is with undergraduate students, but I am comfortable with tutoring junior high, high school, undergraduates, adults, etc.
I understa2nd that for many, learning STEM subjects can be frustrating and demotivating. I've seen the struggles as a tutor and have felt it first hand as a student. My philosophy is that with enough patience, practice, and guidance, anyone can learn and build confidence with whatever subject they're studying. My focus is on building confidence in problem solving techniques and how to approach different problems. That said, I tend to have students go through many problems, and fill in gaps in knowledge as we go. I am also to teach lessons, as well. Whatever you need, I can help with it!
I very much appreciate any materials that the student/parents can give me on the topics and we will work to develop a plan that works for you. I will typically respond within a day when contacted, but it's typically much sooner. If you have any question or with to sign up for a lesson, please don't hesitate to reach out!
