Enthusiastic Math and Science Tutor

I have a bachelor's degree in both Biology and Chemistry with a concentration in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. While in college, I tutored students in introductory biology and chemistry courses. I tutored students one-on-one and in groups. I also served as a teaching assistant in introductory biology and chemistry laboratories. Additionally, I tutored high school students in AP Chemistry and AP Biology. That led me to pursue a Master of Education in Teaching and Teacher Education at the University of Arizona. I student taught in Chemistry and am a High School Biology teacher. I am certified to teach both Biology and Chemistry. I am also working on my Master of Science in Biology with an emphasis in Education. I currently also tutor at a local community college for some math, and all types of Biology and Chemistry. In addition to tutoring in the sciences, I worked at my college's Writing Center for three years. During my experience at the Writing Center, I helped students with essays for their classes, undergraduate theses, resumes, cover letters, and job applications.

In addition to tutoring, I currently teach middle school and high school biology. I love tutoring because I am able to work with students on a one-on-one basis and am able to see their improvement directly. I enjoy being able to form a relationship with the student I am tutoring in order to develop a personalized tutoring plan that meets the individual needs of the student. This allows the student to receive the best tutoring experience as possible.

One of my favorite things about tutoring is that I can help students achieve their immediate and long-term goals. Although I may be helping students succeed in a single class, this may help students finish their GED, complete a pre-requisite for their major, or raise their GPA. I love seeing how my work with students can assist them in achieving their goals.
