Hola! I'm Kendra! Currently a sophomore at Calvin College, I am studying K-12 Spanish Education. After I graduate my goal is to teach the language in a high school or an immersion program. I have a love for kids of all ages and a desire to help them learn and achieve their goals! A sister to 3 younger siblings in high school and middle school, I have experience in helping them with grasping new concepts and doing well on their school work. I do not have official tutoring experience, but I do have experience in the area of Spanish. Other than Spanish classes at Calvin, I spent 4 months studying abroad in Peru from August to December. It was an immersion program to better my speaking and understanding skills. Because of my experience abroad and the classes I took, I feel prepared to tutor students in Spanish immersion programs in elementary and middle school ages all the way to high school Spanish classes. I hope I will be able to share my love for Spanish with you or your child and help them achieve their academic goals!
What would make me an outstanding Spanish tutor would be my experience with the language. I had 2 years of classes in high school, 1 1/2 years in college, and 4 months of living in Arequipa, Peru with a Peruvian family who speaks only Spanish. I also attended a university and took 5 classes while in Peru which were all in Spanish as well. I also have taken several education classes, and I have been a teacher aide in an elementary classroom in a local Grand Rapids school. This coming semester I will be teacher aiding again but this time for a high school.
I would love to get to know you and your child and help with their Spanish! I believe each student deserves a certain respect and encouragement in order to achieve their goals, and I am willing to do what is necessary to support them academically and be a mentor for them. Please contact me if you are interested so we can talk about scheduling, the level of Spanish, and a starting time. I'm looking forward to meeting you!
