Dear Potential Student and Family,
Hello! My name is Sarah, and I am an energetic, dedicated educator with a master’s degrees in education and over 30 years of professional experience as a certified Special Education Teacher and consultant. I absolutely love my job, and my primary goal as a tutor is to help you fall in love with learning again by discovering your unique, individual strengths. Throughout my career, I have worked with diverse learners from Pre-K all the way through high school, and I have spent the past two years specifically mastering remote tutoring alongside my classroom teaching. Because I believe in meeting every student exactly where they are, my approach is hands-on and "out-of-the-box." I frequently integrate creative arts, music, and specialized, evidence-based programs into my lessons. For younger learners building foundational skills, I am trained in explicit phonics and reading methodologies—including Orton-Gillingham, and Zoo-phonics—as well as specialized math strategies to support students navigating Dyslexia, Dyscalculia, cognitive impairments, or Autism.
When working with middle and high school students, my focus shifts heavily toward mastering critical study skills, organization, and executive functioning, while simultaneously teaching the life-changing art of self-advocacy. I want to empower you to understand how your brain works and confidently speak up for what you need to succeed. My teaching philosophy is deeply trauma-informed, meaning I understand how stress and life's challenges can impact your focus, motivation, and learning. Because of this, our virtual sessions will always be a patient, adaptable, and safe space. Whether you are on a traditional diploma track, or just need to bridge some learning gaps, I am committed to customizing the perfect accommodations and modifications for you. I look forward to partnering with you and your family to unlock your full potential and build the confidence you deserve.

My extensive background—backed by degrees and certifications spanning general elementary education, special education (K–26), early childhood, and pre-primary impairments—gives me a holistic view of child development. This broad foundation enables me to adapt to each student’s changing needs and equip them with the confidence and skills required for a smooth transition into middle school.

Executive Functioning

With over 32 years of teaching experience and more than 3 years of remote executive functioning coaching, I help students transition from passive learners into active participants in their education. My approach focuses on building essential life skills, including study techniques, self-advocacy, organization, and active academic engagement. Backed by specialized certifications in psychology and emotional impairments across K–12 levels, I tailor my strategies to meet the unique needs of diverse learners. Together, we work to build the confidence and independence needed for long-term success.
