Experienced Mathematics Tutor Specializing in Calculus

As a student of an elementary school teacher I have been exposed to education all of my life. My mother is deeply passionate about teaching and has a masters on it. I have job shadowed her multiple times, as teaching is my passion too. Through job shadowing I have taught kindergarten, first graders, and second graders. I specialize in math. I am currently enrolled at Hillsdale College, and recently completed Calculus 2 and 3. I achieved a 5 on the AP Calculus AB exam.

By watching my mother teach in a classroom that even I was once taught in, I learned what makes a fantastic teacher. Understanding each student as best as possible; their background, strengths, and weaknesses all allow a teacher to assist that student. I work with students through a one on one approach, leading them by asking questions and motivating them. One important method I have picked up on when teaching one on one is when a student is struggling with a question and wants you to do it for them, take a step back with them, or look at a previous problem that they could solve, and show how the problem they are on now is similar or you can even highlight how it is different. This motivates the student by helping them understand two things: one, they can identify different types of problems through their differences, and two, they have now learnt the vital skill of recall.

I hope to teach older kids now, such as those in high school through mathematics. I want to spread my love of maths, allow students to grasp a deeper understanding of core mathematical concepts, and help improve their grades while doing so.
