Hi! My name is Coy, and I’m a recent graduate of the University of Michigan with a Bachelor's degree in Pure Mathematics and Computer Science.

I graduated high school from Grosse Pointe North in 2020 with a 4.0 GPA receiving 4's and 5's on all of my AP courses, including AP Calc BC, AP Physics C, AP Biology, AP Chemistry, and AP Computer Science Principles.

During my time at the University of Michigan, I gained extensive experience supporting students in both math and computer science. I tutored in the MathLab, guided students in the “Introduction to Mathematical Writing” course, and mentored a class of 20 incoming freshmen during the summer of 2023—teaching workshops and helping them strengthen their college algebra skills. I also worked as a grader for courses like Linear Algebra, Modern Algebra, and Multivariable Calculus, in addition to running labs and holding office hours. I have done some miscellaneous tutoring in mechanical physics as well.

My tutoring approach is centered on listening first. I like to understand my student’s current perspective and then pinpoint where the confusion lies. Once I’ve clarified the concept, I encourage the student to try the problem again, offering guiding hints as needed. My teaching style is laid-back and approachable, but I also know when to gently refocus students if they start to drift off track.
