I earned my undergraduate degree in Elementary Education (K-8) and English as a Second Language at UW-Madison. I furthered my passion and expertise in literacy when I received my master's as a certified Reading Specialist (K-12) at Michigan State University. Earning degrees at two universities that hold spots in the top 3 elementary education preparation programs equipped me to be a highly-skilled, culturally and linguistically responsive educator. I have held many roles including a classroom teacher, substitute teacher, tutor, and camp coordinator. I am currently a licensed teacher in the state of Michigan.
I am certified to teach all subjects K-8 and have a variety of experiences. My areas of specialty are as a Reading Specialist (K-12) and English as a Second Language teacher. I have been a virtual tutor and teacher in the past. I take great measures to be up-to-date with technology since it is a major component of online tutoring. My tutoring can be an extension of what your child is learning in school or completely separate. I am happy to make learning customized to your child based on whatever skills you desire using evidence-based practices to help them grow.
If you select me as your child’s tutor, I will learn their interests, strengths, and areas of growth. A key to unlocking learning is connection. I take time to get to know my students to integrate their interests and strengths into learning. I do this through a few helpful assessments and talking with you and your child. If there are any specific learning styles, resource types, or skills you would prefer, I am happy to incorporate them. Learning must be meaningful and purposeful to have maximum impact.
