My name is Ty R. (MEd), I am currently employed at a cutting edge corporation as a Virtual Reality developer and I've previously served as an adjunct professor for my alma mater. My career is emblematic of the opportunity that exists right now for those with an interest in emerging technology - with most of my professional roles thus far having been newly created for me and my skillset with tools like XR (virtual reality, augmented reality, and mixed reality) and AI.
In addition to designing and leading my own collegiate course on 3D animation, I have years of experience educating students with no assumed prior knowledge on the technical process and design thinking involved in the creation of impressive digital experiences through project based learning.
In this capacity, I designed the curriculum for Grand Valley State's STING student development program and led their first cohort in the creation of a functional VR demo for occupational therapy education. Similarly, I have designed and led multiple summer camp programs on subjects like Game Development As Art for the West Michigan Center For Arts And Technology.
I believe that there is nothing that we cannot learn to do or create with time, patience, and practice. Anyone can learn to harness the power and opportunity that technology presents.
