Hello All
In addition to teaching 10th and 12th grade English both in a resource and regular education setting, I had the opportunity to work as a mentee under my building principal clocking over 100 hours of observation and administrative training while completing my Master of Educational Administration degree in 2009. I was also given the responsibility of implementing an afterschool tutorial program for students, “power hour”, which entailed analyzing data to identify students who would benefit from the program, putting together a master schedule, monitoring the effectiveness of the program, creating incentives for both students and tutors and recruiting tutors. Those opportunities enabled me to develop strong communication, interpersonal, organizational and leadership skills.
I’ve also worked with severely emotionally impaired students and at-risk identified students as a behavioral specialist and coordinator creating and implementing behavioral intervention services for students. The interventions taught students behavioral self-regulation strategies and helped them to exhibit appropriate behaviors to be successful in the classroom.
