I hold a Ph.D. in rhetoric and communication processes, with a minor in linguistics. I also have an MFA in speech and dramatic arts. I am a retired college professor with 18 years' experience teaching public speaking, persuasion, argumentation, and other courses. For years I coached competitive public speaking and debate. My students include regional champions (e.g., CEDA East Regional debate champions, New England Lincoln-Douglas debate champion) and students who have placed highly in national competitions. I enjoy working with students at all levels, from raw beginners to polished orators.
As a former debate coach I have had to read widely in the areas of constitutional law, foreign policy, education, and American government. My undergraduate coursework included courses in political science, English literature, composition, statistics, Latin, world and American history, etc.
I am also a published author with plenty of experience coaching and editing aspiring writers.
I promise you that whatever the subject, if you make the effort, I can help you improve.
