I have an associate degree in Cyber Security and a technical certificate in Network Security from Ivy Tech Community College which is designated by the NSA and DHS as a Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense Education (CAE-2Y). I also hold a bachelor's degree in Computer Science from the University of Michigan – Flint where I was able to expand my knowledge into programming and data science, while also conducting research through an independent study on the intersection of AI/machine learning and cyber security. Additionally, I earned several certifications including the A+, Network+, and Security+.
I’ve found myself in educational roles my whole life, especially during college where I was able to develop as an extremely adept learner, student, mentor, and leader. Despite facing adversity through Covid years and health challenges, I finished school with a 4.0 GPA, passed all of my certification exams on the first try, led several group projects where I was able to help fellow students work efficiently and teach them new information, and ultimately walked away with a better understanding of who I am and what I excel at. This was accomplished by maintaining a disciplined approach in taking complex goals and breaking them down into small, manageable, simple tasks. This is the same approach I use with my students.
A passion of mine is helping others realize their potential. I am genuinely invested in the success of my students, and I like to be deeply involved in the process. I specialize in exam prep of all types, but especially CompTIA exams. I also enjoy teaching anything involving the topics I’ve mentioned, writing, and math.
My main goal is to see my students become successful, both academically and in life. If you’re serious about finally passing that exam or earning a grade you can be proud of, then I would love to work with you. I am very flexible in terms of availability, needs, and price, so don’t hesitate to reach out and ask any questions you might have. I look forward to hearing from you!

Computer Science

Computer Science

Although my interest in technology began at a young age as I built my first computer in my younger teen years, my technical expertise really took off when I took vocational courses in high school and eventually earned an associate degree in cyber security and a bachelor's degree in computer science. Additionally, I earned several professional certifications including the A+, Network+, and Security+ from CompTIA. My time spent as a computer science student allowed me the opportunity to explore several different routes of tech, including things such as computer hardware, operating systems, networking, offensive and defensive security, web development, machine learning, programming (mainly Python), database management with SQL, and more. I continue to expand my skills through time set aside for daily learning which has allowed me to create an extremely versatile and robust toolkit to handle anything related to computer science.
Cybersecurity

Cybersecurity

My interest in tech began at a young age, helping to develop a well-rounded foundation for all things computers. My collegiate career moved me into the realm of cyber security where I was able to attain several certifications such as CompTIA's A+, Net+, and Sec+, and valuable experience with topics such as perimeter defense, penetration testing, forensics, etc. I specialize in helping people prepare for certification exams and I've had a high rate of success when it comes to my students being able to pass their certifications. Please reach out if you are looking to pass your certification exam or if you need help with anything related to cyber security!
General Computer

General Computer

I have 25+ years of experience using computers, starting from when I built my first PC as a young teen all the way through my collegiate years. I have degrees in cyber security, computer science, and several professional certifications. I am extremely versed in everyday computer tasks, numerous operating systems, various popular platforms and software, etc. Whatever your need may be when it comes to computers, I am confident we can figure it out together.
Information Technology

Information Technology

I've studied several topics within information technology for many years on all levels including personal, professional, and educational. With degrees in both cyber security and computer science, I've become well-equipped to help students with a variety of topics including cyber security, networking, Windows and other operating systems, etc. I specialize in exam prep for certifications where I've been highly successful, but I also offer generalized help for students taking courses in any of the related topics mentioned above. Please reach out if you're looking for help with your certifications or classes!
Microsoft Windows

Microsoft Windows

I have been using Windows systems for years in professional, academic, and personal settings. I built my first computer as a teenager and took vocational classes in high school, eventually moving on to obtain an associate degree in cyber security and a bachelor's degree in computer science. During my collegiate career, I also earned a number of technical credentials, including certifications such as the A+, Network+, and Security+ from CompTIA. Ultimately, this has allowed me to gain several years of experience with Windows, starting all the way from Windows 95 to current operating systems, and the CompTIA A+ certification thoroughly prepared me to use, configure, and troubleshoot Windows systems.
Networking (Computer)

Networking (Computer)

My interest in technology began at a young age, building my first computer as a teen and taking vocational classes in high school. I earned an associate degree in cyber security from Ivy Tech Community College and a bachelor's degree in computer science from the University of Michigan - Flint, while also acquiring several professional certifications such as A+, Network+, and Security+ from CompTIA. I continue to practice my craft by dedicating time daily to code, read, and continue my 1,000+ day activity streak on TryHackMe.com. Overall, my experience with the CompTIA Network+ certification and the knowledge required to pursue cyber security has thoroughly prepared me to understand networks on a deep level, from their physical infrastructure to how data travels across the internet and everything in between.
Writing

Writing

Although my credentials are heavily based in tech, I became an adept writer throughout my collegiate career. I've spent the past 10+ years writing essays, doing research, writing IT security policies, working on a nonfiction book, etc. My attention to detail, ability to communicate my thoughts effectively through words, and desire to help others make me an excellent writer and proofreader.

Knowledgeable, kind and cool tutor.

Tyler is an outstanding tutor who played a huge role in helping me pass the Network+ exam. He’s incredibly intelligent and has a real talent for breaking down complex networking topics into simple, easy-to-understand explanations. On top of that, he’s an all-around cool guy—patient, approachable, and genuinely invested in helping you succeed. Highly recommend him to anyone preparing for IT certifications!

Knowledgeable and patient

Tyler has been a great tutor so far. We’ve only had one session, but I can already tell he really knows his stuff when it comes to CompTIA. He’s patient, explains things clearly, and doesn’t make you feel bad for asking questions which is huge for someone like me getting back into school after a long break. He’s also super flexible with scheduling, which I really appreciate since my days can be all over the place. I’m planning to stick with him as I work toward the full CompTIA trifecta (A+, Network+, and Security+). If you’re looking for someone who’s knowledgeable, easy to talk to, and reliable, I’d definitely recommend Tyler.

Helped me build my confidence and gave me a sense of direction

I have been studying for the CompTIA A+ but no matter how much I would study, I always felt like something was missing that was preventing me from doing the exam. After just two sessions with Tyler, he helped me build my confidence and now I feel more ready than ever going for the exam.

Knowledgeable & Patient Tutor

This was my first CompTIA exam, and I had so very much riding on it. I had been studying on my own for a long time, but still felt unprepared, like there was something missing from my understanding. From our first meeting, Tyler listened to my concerns and was able to quickly identify what that was. He had a great deal of patience with my anxieties, and took the time necessary to help me feel ready for this test. I appreciate that he continues to study the subject matter for a fresh and informed perspective; it felt like I was talking to someone who was very organized and knowledgable. I passed the exam with my first attempt, and I feel Tyler's guidance was the key. Thank you, Tyler, for aiding me over that last hurdle to success.
