I taught high school chemistry for 29 years, including AP Chemistry, and one of my greatest strengths has always been making complex concepts understandable. I use analogies, creative explanations, and real-world connections to help students see why chemistry works—not just what they are supposed to memorize. I also believe students learn best by doing, so our sessions will include plenty of guided practice where students work through problems themselves and gain confidence in the process.
My background is somewhat unique for a chemistry tutor. I have a bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from Lawrence Technological University, with minors in Mathematics and Mechanical Engineering, and a master’s degree in Teaching from the University of Michigan through a selective specialized program. Before becoming a teacher, I worked as an analytical chemist and later managed testing and metal allergy laboratories for an alloy company. My strong background in mathematics is especially helpful because so much of chemistry involves mathematical reasoning and problem-solving.
Whether your student needs help with chemistry fundamentals, problem-solving, or test preparation, I will meet them where they are and find a way to make the material click. My goal is for students to leave a session saying, “I understand this now—and I know how to figure it out.” I also believe in clear communication and will make every effort to respond to you or your student in a timely manner.
