Hello! I graduated from Western Michigan University with an elementary education degree. I also received my master's degree in curriculum and teaching methods from Spring Arbor University.
I have 28+ years of classroom teaching experience. During my time in the classroom, I taught 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grades, all subjects. I believe very strongly in creating a safe learning environment where mistakes are accepted and celebrated as part of the learning process. I also place importance on students having positive learning experiences to boost student's progress, confidence, and attitude toward learning.
I have worked with inclusion students as well as tier 2 students in whole group and small group settings. I worked with students individually to remediate and assess throughout the day in the structure of the classroom. I believe in providing hands on activities whenever possible to promote conceptual learning. I have a strong base in Marzano's instructional strategies as well as Science of Reading training.
My schedule is flexible, and I am willing to work around complicated schedules. I look forward to collaborating with parents on student's goals and outcomes!
