Bio

I am a special education teacher that has worked with students with a wide range of needs. I love teaching reading and math and providing quality instruction and interventions that work. I have been a teacher for 5 years and volunteered with kids with special needs for 6 years before that.
Tutoring allows you to work one on one with a student to see amazing growth. You get to focus on each child's individual needs and help them achieve their goals.

I am a special education teacher that has worked with students with a wide range of needs. I love teaching reading and math and providing quality instruction and interventions that work. I have been a teacher for 5 years and volunteered with kids with special needs for 6 years before that.

I am an elementary certified teacher, as well as a K-12 special education certified teacher. I have endorsements in cognitive impairments, learning disabilities, and emotional impairments. I also have taught students with autism my entire career.
I have completed course work in providing math interventions for students with learning differences. I also am Orton-Gillingham certified, which is the best program for students with dyslexia. I have training in the best ways to improve writing and spelling as well.

I am available after school and most weekends. I would love to help my students achieve their goals.

I have a special education teaching certificate that has provided me with experience in ADHD. I utilize multi-sensory instructional techniques, which is an effective form of instruction for students with ADHD. I find that making learning interactive and engaging, students with attention challenges are able to better learn material.

I have a special education teaching certificate and volunteer experience where I worked with children with ASD. I have been teaching for five years and have had many students with autism. Some of these students have been non-verbal or echolalic and others have been very independent and displayed challenging behaviors. By utilizing different methods of instruction and positive reinforcement, learning is more effective for students.

I have received professional development training on the Common Core State Standards. In addition to this, I have been on committees working on scaffolding the CCSS to the Essential Elements for special education. I have taught both sets of standards to my students and have used various instructional approaches to teach these standards.

I have a special education teaching certificate and an endorsement in learning disabilities. I also have been trained in the Orton-GIllingham instructional approach, which is one of the most effective interventions for students with dyslexia. By utilizing multi-sensory techniques and strategic planning, students with dyslexia can become readers.

I have my elementary teaching certificate. I have completed pre-student teaching in K-6 classes and a full time student teaching in 5th grade. I have also co-taught in general education classes during my five years of teaching.

I was a math interventionist in Wayne County prior to becoming a full time special education teacher. I have completed coursework in math instruction for students with learning disabilities and greatly enjoy teaching math. I co-taught 5th grade math for 3 years and taught 6th grade math for 2 years.

I have used the Handwriting Without Tears approach to handwriting. In addition to this, I have worked with an occupational therapist on different ways to improve fine motor skills to improve handwriting. I have many fun and different activities to help make handwriting enjoyable.

I have an Orton-Gillingham certificate and am a special education teacher in middle school and have previous experience in 5th and 6th grade.

Prior to teaching, I volunteered with children with various disabilities for six years. I also have been a caregiver for a family with children with severe multiple impairments. My wide range of experiences has allowed me to see many different instructional approaches to help children with a wide range of needs.
