Friendly and Knowledgable AP English Tutor
I had three last-minute tutoring sessions for AP Lang with this awesome tutor who’s not only super smart (Harvard educated!) but also an actual licensed high school English teacher, which made me feel way more confident about taking his feedback seriously. He totally got how to explain things in a way that made sense—especially since I’m more of a STEM person—and helped me understand how to approach rhetorical analysis without freaking out. Yeah, the price is a little higher than what I’ve paid before, but it was so worth it. I genuinely felt more prepared for the AP exam after just those three sessions. I’m hoping to work with him again when it’s time to write my college essays—his advice is just that good. Highly recommend!

I worked with Miguel to improve my medical school application materials. He went above and beyond to ensure that all my questions were answered and that I was satisfied with the final essay. Most importantly, he helped me in such a way that maintained my unique voice and style. I have used other tutors before, but they pale in comparison to Miguel. He seemed to have an intuitive knowledge about where to go and what to do in parts of the essay where I was stuck. Miguel is punctual and asks for preliminary materials before the session to come prepared. He only charges for the time it takes to complete an assignment. He is very good at explaining his feedback and providing his rationale. I give him 5 stars. Exceeded All My Expectations, Best College Essay Guy Ever
This man is really good at what he does. He knows his stuff and can communicate it very well. He helped me find a new angle for writing about a challenging experience in my college essay. After only one session with him, I was able to put on paper what I'd been struggling to convey with words in prior drafts. He also restructured the whole thing to improve fluidity, and it instantly became at least 10 times better. He was a bit like a therapist during our brainstorming in his guiding questions, which forced me to be more transparent and "real" in my essay. He's also a bit of a comedian, so I highly recommend him if you need a laugh, along with the best college essay feedback you will ever receive. Miguel is no doubt the person to consult for college essay support. I will most definitely be booking more sessions with this guy between now and the end of the college app cycle. Well worth the costs. Highly Recommend.

Best Writing Tutor Ever, Highly Recommend!
After agreeing to pencil me in the same day, Miguel went above and beyond to help me strengthen and edit my literary analysis essay. He helped me clarify my claim and even dove into various outside sources to find evidence for my arguments. In addition to his expert editing skills, he seemed to know every book I brought up during our video session. Though he is a true professional, he also is super funny and encouraging. Throughout our editing phase, he reminded me many times to trust my gut and practice being confident in my work. After wrapping up, I asked him to share how he'd become such a masterful teacher and American Literature buff. I should not have been surprised to learn that in addition to currently teaching AP English in NYC, he's also a published creative writing author with two Harvard degrees.
