Hi! I’m Carson, a recent Biochemistry and Molecular Biology graduate from Michigan State University and scored a 515 (91st percentile) on my MCAT in June (Chem/Phys- 130, CARS-128, Bio/Biochem- 128, Phyc/Soc-129). As a student, I learned that understanding science is much more effective than simply memorizing information. My tutoring approach focuses on breaking complicated concepts into manageable pieces, identifying gaps in understanding, and rebuilding those concepts from the ground up. I want students to understand not only what happens, but why, so they can recognize the key pieces of an unfamiliar problem and reason their way to the correct answer.
My background includes advanced coursework in biochemistry and molecular biology as well as laboratory research in cellular biology, metabolism, and molecular techniques. I also have extensive clinical experience working directly with physicians and patients, which allows me to connect many of the concepts students learn in class to real-world medicine.
For MCAT students, I focus on developing testing strategies, combining content knowledge with testing strategy, and identify weaknesses from practice questions to develop a study plan that addresses those weaknesses. Having recently gone through the MCAT process myself, I also understand how overwhelming the volume of material can feel and can help students develop a realistic and efficient approach to studying.
Whether you are preparing for the MCAT or struggling through a difficult course, my goal is to help you understand why an answer is correct rather than simply memorizing the content.
