I currently substitute teach for an organization called Professional Education Services Group (PESG), and usually substitute in the Lincoln Consolidated school district. In 2013 I did a long term substitute job in a fourth grade classroom at Child's Elementary. It was here I gained valuable experience working with a struggling class.
When I took over the class, there were severe behavior and academic problems throughout the class. By the end of the school year, the class had improved vastly. Special teachers (art, gym, music, etc.) said the behavior of the class had greatly improved and now they could actually teach the class. Test scores rose across the class with great improvement in math and science.
Teaching has always been a part of my life. Before becoming a certified teacher, I did volunteer work in Detroit working with children in small groups. After that, I took five separate trips to Nicaragua and worked with children to practice reading and simple math. Teaching has always been my life and I love to tutor students in math, reading, science, and social studies.
