I understand that chemistry can be a very difficult subject for many people. Well, chemistry and teaching are my ultimate passions and I take tremendous pride in my ability to help students grasp this challenging topic. Many students under my tutelage have moved on into careers as chemists/scientists as well as doctors, nurses, engineers, lawyers, and teachers. Whatever your career endeavors are, I am here to help you achieve success in chemistry.

I have a Ph.D. (University of Chicago) in chemistry, having specialized in organic chemistry and synthesis. For 20+ years I have taught college level (undergraduate and graduate) chemistry at both university and community colleges and have been recognized on numerous occasions for my excellence in teaching. The courses I have taught during this time range from introductory chemistry to general chemistry (I & II) to most upper level areas such as organic chemistry (I & II), organometallic/inorganic chemistry, and biochemistry.

If I can think of three words that students would describe me as a teacher, they would be: passionate, enthusiastic, and patient. I simply am passionate about chemistry and teaching chemistry is what I do best. The enthusiasm and energy that I bring into the learning environment is a reflection of this passion. Finally, as a teacher I am committed to pushing students to realize their full learning potential. Not all students are alike, so this requires much patience.

I am open to tutoring/mentoring high school and graduate students in addition to undergraduate students. I cannot emphasize enough that how well you understand chemistry depends on the approach that one takes and I will do everything in my power to help get you there, over that "hump." And who knows? Maybe you will end up loving chemistry as much as I do!
