My name is Nick Finamore, and I’m a 21-year-old engineering student at Washtenaw Community College with plans to transfer to the University of Michigan for Electrical Engineering. I tutor math, physics, chemistry, and introductory engineering concepts.
I take a step-by-step approach to tutoring, focusing on building real understanding instead of memorization. I like to break complex problems into smaller pieces, explain the “why” behind each step, and help students develop problem-solving strategies they can use on their own. My goal is for students to leave each session feeling more confident and capable than when they arrived.
As a current engineering student, I work with calculus, physics, chemistry, and technical problem solving every day, so I understand exactly where students tend to get stuck. I also have hands-on experience through welding, fabrication, and technical projects, which helps me connect abstract concepts to real-world applications.
When I was in high school, I didn’t take academics as seriously as I should have, so I understand what it feels like to struggle or fall behind. That experience motivates me to help students realize their potential and build confidence in their abilities. I believe anyone can improve with the right guidance, patience, and practice.
My tutoring style is supportive, structured, and adaptable to each student’s learning style. Whether you need help preparing for exams, completing homework, or strengthening fundamentals, I’m committed to helping you succeed.
