I am an undergraduate biology major and pre-medical student at Eastern Michigan University with a minor in sociology, where I manage an intensive academic workload alongside leadership, research, and clinical responsibilities. I serve as the president of the EMU Pre-Med Club, where I work closely with students navigating demanding science coursework and long-term professional goals. My academic path has also led me to plan for graduate study next year in the Master of Legal Studies program at the University of California, Los Angeles, with an interest in the intersection of science, medicine, and policy.

Earlier in my academic career, I worked as a supplemental instructor and tutor for introductory biology courses, supporting students through one-on-one tutoring and small group review sessions. In these roles, I helped students prepare for exams, break down challenging biological concepts, and develop effective study strategies. I am also involved in a biology research lab, which has strengthened my ability to explain complex scientific material clearly and thoughtfully. In addition, I work in a hospital surgical setting, giving me practical insight into how biological concepts apply in real clinical environments.

Beyond academics, I have prior experience working with individuals living with mental illness and neurological conditions who were unable to live independently. In that role, I provided hands-on support with maintaining their living spaces and daily needs, which required patience, adaptability, and strong communication skills. These experiences shape my approach to tutoring today. I focus on helping students understand the reasoning behind the material rather than relying on memorization, while being mindful of stress, anxiety, and time constraints. I also support students preparing for the MCAT, particularly in biology and biochemistry, by helping them organize content review, practice passage-based questions, and study efficiently within a busy schedule.

Sociology

I am a sociology minor with extensive college-level coursework in social theory, health, aging, religion, and social inequality. My academic experience includes research-based writing and applied analysis connecting sociological concepts to real-world social and health issues. I also have prior work experience supporting individuals with mental illness and neurological conditions, which strengthens my understanding of social institutions, marginalization, and care systems. I am now offering sociology tutoring focused on helping students understand core concepts, readings, and written assignments.
