Hi, I'm Safir. As a current Secondary Education student at Michigan State University, with experience in tutoring and teaching, and a strong passion for furthering the learning of others, I am eager to help students learn and further my own skills as I move into public education.
Through previous work I’ve done as a tutor, I have gained experience in helping students of many ages with learning new material and motivating themselves to take their learning further, in subjects like math and English. My main focus throughout my experience at tutoring centers, however, has always been to make learning fun, and to give students a reason to come back to learn more. I like making small games to make reviewing material more enjoyable, and I use the theories of learning and memory that I learned in my studies to maximize their effectiveness.
Along with my tutoring work, I’ve also done work as a summer camp aid and counselor. This experience has instilled me with the communication skills to talk to the students and the parents, explaining to them why specific lessons are important or breaking down any issues that may arise. My interpersonal skills are the highlight of my abilities, and I’m confident in my ability to diffuse volatile situations.
