Hi, I’m Ethan! I’m an incoming medical student and currently work as a Critical Care EMT with Mercy Life Flight
I completed my Bachelor’s in Biology with a Chemistry minor at Case Western Reserve University, where I was honored with distinctions such as the Dean’s High Honor and Ford Scholars Award. Throughout undergrad, I found that learning felt most meaningful when I could share it with others.
I’ve spent the past five years tutoring students in a range of subjects from biology and chemistry to test prep, and have developed a strong ability to break down complex topics into clear, manageable steps. Beyond academic tutoring, I also became an NREMT instructor where I taught over 100 students the skills, clinical reasoning, and confidence needed to earn their certification and succeed in the field.
These experiences shape my approach as a tutor: learning should be collaborative, personalized, and empowering. I don’t lecture. I work with you to identify what’s confusing, break down tough concepts into clear, manageable steps, and help you build both mastery and confidence. Whether it’s a biochemistry or a clinical skill, my goal is always to help you reach that “aha!” moment.
My schedule is flexible as I prepare to start medical school, so I’m happy to accommodate most time slots.
Feel free to reach out if you’d like to schedule a session or see if we’d be a good fit!

Biochemistry

Biochemistry

I earned a B.S. in Biology with a Chemistry minor from Case Western Reserve University, graduating with a 3.7 GPA and receiving multiple academic honors, including Dean’s High Honor and the Spartan Spirit Award. My strong academic foundation (A in upper level biochemistry), coupled with extensive research experience, and private tutoring has equipped me to effectively teach molecular and cellular biology. During my time in the Tartakoff Lab, I conducted research on ribosome biogenesis, localization, processing, and production in various cell lines, gaining hands-on expertise in advanced laboratory techniques such as cell culture, Fluorescent In-Situ Hybridization, SDS-PAGE, and aseptic techniques. My role also involved mentoring students, where I honed my ability to communicate complex biological chemical concepts clearly and foster a collaborative learning environment. From a previous student:"Studying biochemistry with Ethan made complex topics like metabolism and enzyme kinetics finally click. He explained concepts clearly, helped me improve problem-solving strategies, and ensured I truly understood the material. Thanks to his support, I boosted my grades from a C to an A and gained a deeper appreciation for biochemistry. Highly recommend it!" My experience in both research and teaching enables me to break down challenging material in a way that is accessible and engaging. By integrating my knowledge of molecular and cellular biology with practical applications, I strive to help students develop a deeper understanding of the subject and build confidence in their ability to master complex scientific concepts.

Having worked at CWRU as an instructor/ preceptor with CWRUEMS I have been able to mentor and teach a variety of student in academic and practical skills. Having a B.S. in Biology also means that I have a deeper understanding of the medical within and can effectively teach students. I strive in create test like scenarios and NREMT specific questions that ensure that not only will they succeed on their test but also in real life.

EMT/ NREMT

Teaching EMS is something I genuinely love. As a Critical Care EMT with years of hands-on emergency experience, I've had the privilege of training over 200 people in First Aid and CPR as a certified BLS and Stop the Bleed Instructor. My experience as a Lieutenant and Preceptor includes leading critical care transports, training 50+ new EMTs - all of whom passed probation and NREMT exams - and developing protocols that improved emergency responses. I've taught campus First Aid courses while expanding EMS outreach to student groups. I know how to make complex EMS concepts click, whether it's patient assessment, test-taking strategies, or high-pressure decision-making. My goal is to help you succeed in class and in the field.
MCAT

MCAT

(Contact for a free Consultation) Having achieved top scores on both practice exams (517, 518, 520, 526) and the official MCAT, I have developed a comprehensive understanding of the exam’s structure, the reasoning behind each question, and the key strategies required to excel. My firsthand experience in mastering the material has given me valuable insight into the most efficient ways to approach challenging concepts, optimize study time, and improve test performance. I know what it takes to not only learn the content but also apply it effectively under test-day conditions. Beyond content mastery, I emphasize the importance of strategic thinking, time management, and a systematic approach to tackling complex passages and problem-solving. The MCAT is not just about memorization, it requires critical thinking, pattern recognition, and the ability to extract relevant information from dense scientific texts. I help students develop these essential skills by teaching them how to break down high-yield topics, analyze their weak areas, and refine their test-taking techniques to maximize their scores. My approach to tutoring goes beyond just reviewing content; I focus on active learning strategies, targeted practice, and efficient review methods that help students be accountable in their studies. I work with students to develop personalized study plans based on their strengths, weaknesses, and time constraints, ensuring they use their study time as efficiently as possible. By incorporating spaced repetition, practice test analysis, and test-like conditions to their approach, I help students continuously improve and build confidence leading up to test day. Ultimately, my goal is not just to help students understand the material but to empower them with the confidence and skills needed to navigate the MCAT with precision. The aforementioned strategies have raised students' stores from 50th percentile to the 80th and the 90th percentile. There is no single solution to studying for the MCAT, so let’s begin the journey of
