Bio

Hi my name is Katherine. I am a bilingual native Chinese speaker who is experienced in tutoring children, teenagers, and adults in Mandarin Chinese. I worked as the Translator and Secretary for the CFO and Vice President of General Motors Joint – Venture Company in China. Now I live in the States and taught Mandarin Chinese in a local public school. Recently, I started my own Chinese tutoring center.

I have Bachelor's degrees in Accounting and Multimedia Design. I was awarded “Top Ten Chinese Writing” when I was in High School and “Excellent News Reporter” three times when in college. I always have lots of interest and passion in learning language. I have more than 7 years experience in translating English to Chinese for international companies. Now I teach Chinese to students of all ages and levels. I like to insure my students have a good handle on the basic structure of the language before attempting more complex terms. This puts the student on the quickest route to becoming fluent. I encourage the students to use verbally whatever they have learned because future progress depends on this type of review. Learning from a textbook is important, but equally important is to be able to speak in a manner that is easily understood.

The subject matter between the tutor and student that I studied in Xi Ws mandarin class was custom made too my level of understanding and Chinese communication. I've enjoyed a very good professional learning relationship in a comfortable relaxed atmosphere. She is an exceptional teacher.
