After graduating with a BA in Philosophy from Columbia University with a 3.91 GPA, I've developed a strong foundation in critical thinking, writing, and analysis. During my undergraduate years, I gained substantial teaching experience as the Financial Director of Youth for Debate, where I taught logical reasoning and public speaking to high school students in both one-on-one and small group settings in New York City. I've worked with students ranging from grades 9-12, helping them develop their arguments, improve their research abilities, and build confidence in public speaking.
Currently, I serve as an Assistant Coach for Debate and Ethics Bowl at Cranbrook Kingswood, as well as Sacred Heart, where I work with high school students to develop their analytical/argumentative skills. I also serve as a guest critic and artist at the prestigious Cranbrook Academy of Art. Prior to this, I worked as an Assistant Teacher at Henry Ford College, teaching English and Math to incoming freshmen in a classroom setting. This experience gave me valuable insight into the transition between high school and college-level academics.
My approach to tutoring emphasizes active engagement and critical thinking with a degree of humor. My passion in college was sketch comedy. I believe in fostering a light, but supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and exploring ideas. Rather than simply providing answers, I help guide students through analytical problems, assisting them in developing their own critical thinking skills. Through my various teaching experiences, I've adapted to different situations, whether it be explaining complex philosophical concepts, teaching public speaking skills, or helping students structure their writing and thought.
