Hello everyone! My name is Bianca. I am an Undergraduate student at the University of Detroit Mercy studying Civil Engineering. I love learning and helping others and I am super excited about tutoring new students through Wyzant!
Upon completing high school, I ranked in the top 5% percent of my graduating class and scored in the 90th percentile for the SAT, with a total score of 1300 and a Math score of 600. As a result of my mathematic abilities and test-taking strategies, my ACT scores were almost 20% higher than those of the national average. Furthermore, my academic accomplishments in high school led to numerous distinctions from the state of New York for my overall performance.
Reading has always been a passion of mine since I was a child, along with my interest in math. The Helen Ruffin Reading Bowl has been a rewarding experience for me. I have placed first numerous times in the school district and state competitions. Reading has directly impacted my writing skills as well. On the Advanced Placement national examinations for AP Language and AP Literature, I earned scores of 4 and 5 respectively. Today, I actually host my own bi-weekly book club, as it is still a passionate hobby of mine!
In addition to my studies, I have worked as an in-home nanny for almost four years now. This job opportunity has given me an enormous amount of exposure to working with young children and gives me even more leverage as an effective tutor for students that may be needing a little extra help and encouragement. As both a student and teacher, with a passion for reading, writing, and math, I am confident that I can target a student’s issues and create a safe and supportive study space. I am very patient when it comes to my students learning goals and am overjoyed every time a student of mine finally grasps a new concept. My goal is to help all of my students understand the fundamentals of their target subject and help them succeed.
