Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)

As a direct care worker, I was given extensive training through required courses on various developmental disabilities. The majority of clients that I worked with had autism, and I learned a great deal about their special needs and varying abilities. I also have spent a great deal of time with my niece who has autism, assisting my sister with her care and seeing her development over time. I possess the understanding, caring, and patience required of those who work with clients on the autism spectrum.
Macintosh

Macintosh

I have used a Mac for over 10 years as my personal computer, and am well-versed in its functions and capabilities. I also have experience instructing others when they have purchased various Apple products, including iPhones, iPods, iPads, iMacs, and MacBooks. I can provide quick overview tutorials on any of these products, as well as give deeper instructions on shortcuts and advanced functions.
Microsoft Outlook

Microsoft Outlook

I used Microsoft Outlook extensively through my former employer. I worked for a major airline for three years, and all of our corporate communications were through Outlook. I am able to train anyone on the necessary elements and functions of the program to prepare them for corporate environments.
Microsoft PowerPoint

Microsoft PowerPoint

With over a decade of experience in instructional design, I have expertly created and delivered engaging and effective PowerPoint presentations for various corporate training and educational settings. My proficiency in PowerPoint, coupled with my ability to tailor content to diverse audiences, ensures that learners not only master the technical skills but also understand how to design impactful presentations.
Public Speaking

Public Speaking

I have taken college courses in public speaking, intro to communications, and interpersonal communications. In my previous career experience, I was a DeeJay for 5 years, and also worked in airport operations where I spoke to crowds on a PA system announcing flight information to passengers. I am a confident and articulate speaker, even under pressure, and can give students the tools they need to be a strong public speaker.
Special Needs

Special Needs

I worked for over a year with developmentally disabled children in a respite home in Allendale, MI. Most of the clients were on the autism spectrum, ranging from various levels of severity. Many were non-verbal, and some exhibited violent behavior, but I had the ability to work well with them and see some progress in their behavior and schoolwork. Within the same company, Heritage Homes, I also worked in their adult foster care facility, caring for quadriplegic clients. Through all of this, I have gained a great deal of patience, compassion, and ability to care for those with special needs.
