Greetings! I'm Seth. I have a degree in Social Studies and Secondary Education from Grand Valley State University and have about 4 years teaching experience. Well before college, I was involved with youth programming, Summer Camps, and tutoring. After my college experience, which involved teaching in an outdoor school on the Galapagos Islands, I spent some years teaching 8th grade U.S. History, as well as a 7th and 8th grade mixed Agriculture Course. In this position I honed my skills of making content accessible for students of all abilities. I like to utilize storytelling, graphic organizing, and real life relativity to my subject to reach the student where they are at. If the content isn't delivered in a relevant way, it isn't going to be embraced. Currently I am working at a Waldorf School in Ann Arbor, which goes further in making the content relevant and memorable for students, by implementing a theory of teaching which prioritizes work, play, and study school wide.

My experience teaching history to Middle School and High School students from all different backgrounds and abilities, and my current teaching in the Waldorf School makes me highly qualified to tutor a student in the subject area, as well as other subject areas. Although I do have extensive knowledge of the content, I know what truly makes me qualified as a tutor is my method of delivery. Making history enjoyable and understandable is done through creating relevance and applicability.
