I have 30+ years of project and program management experience. I worked in the IT area for one of the big 3 auto manufacturers. I have a BA in mathematics and an MBA degree. I also have maintained my PMP certification since December 2000. I am also certified as a SAFe Scrum Master.
For about 10 years of my career I was brought in when large critical projects were in trouble. In all of these cases, the basics of project management were not in place. I would spend a great deal of time working with individuals (usually the PMs) on the project to make sure they knew how to run change management, risk management, issue management and schedule management. I loved working with teams or individuals to coach them on how to ge the basics in place and then help them through the challenges of execution. The one-on-one time spent together really made a big difference in their ability to be successful in their PM role. When the PMs would get the basics, I would be so happy - this was the most rewarding aspect of my career - helping others in developing their PM skills. I have also tutored high-school students in math. I enjoyed seeing the students eyes light up when they started to understand the material and enjoyed sharing with them practical experiences on how a specific math skill could be used in the real world.
I look forward to helping others enhance their PM skills and abilities as a tutor. I can bring real world experiences to the session that help show how to implement or improve PM skills while on the job. I believe that tutoring should be an experience where the student and I have a great deal of interaction. I enjoy feedback. I always want to show up 10% better than I did the last time and feedback is key to improvement. I also like to check in frequently to make sure that you are understanding the material we are discussing and that I am on track with meeting your needs.
