Hello! My name is Christopher, and I graduated magna cum laude from the University of Michigan in 2021 with two BSE degrees in Computer Science and Data Science. For the past five years, I have worked as a professional tutor specializing in Calculus, Statistics, Linear Algebra, and ACT/SAT preparation. I primarily work with high school and college students in one-on-one tutoring sessions, both online and in person. Many of the students I work with are taking courses such as AP Calculus AB/BC, Calculus I–III, introductory Statistics, and Linear Algebra. In our sessions, we typically review key concepts from class, work through homework problems step by step, and practice additional examples so students can apply the ideas independently.

My tutoring approach focuses on helping students understand the reasoning behind the material and conceptual foundations rather than memorizing formulas. For example, in Calculus I emphasize visual intuition—thinking of derivatives as slopes and integrals as accumulated area—before moving into computational techniques. In Statistics, I focus on interpretation so students understand what results like p-values or confidence intervals actually mean in context. I also have extensive experience helping students prepare for the ACT and SAT. In addition to reviewing the necessary math and English concepts, I teach practical test-taking strategies such as identifying common question patterns, managing time efficiently, and approaching difficult questions strategically.

Overall, I aim to create a structured, supportive learning environment that maximizes confidence and long-term understanding. My goal is not to just help the students get the right answer, but to ensure that they have the conceptual understanding to make challenging material feel logical, approachable, and manageable. If you have any questions, or if you would like to schedule a session don't hesitate to reach out!

Discrete Math

For my computer science degree, discrete math was a requirement. Since graduating, I have tutored multiple students in discrete math, helping students with topics like logic, proofs, and combinatorics. Teaching the material over and over has really strengthened my own understanding and ability to explain it clearly. I’m very comfortable guiding students through proof-writing and problem-solving step by step.
