Hi! I’m Matthew, and I hold a Master of Public Health (MPH) in Epidemiology and Biostatistics from the University of Michigan. I currently work as a professional biostatistician supporting academic and public health research. My work involves analyzing complex health datasets, building regression and survival models, interpreting results, and contributing to peer-reviewed publications. I’ve worked with NIH- and CDC-funded projects and supported graduate students, DNP candidates, and early-career researchers across a wide range of disciplines. My academic training and professional experience give me a deep understanding of both statistical theory and how to apply it using tools like R, SPSS, SAS, and Excel.

I’ve been tutoring for several years and have worked with students at the high school, undergraduate, and graduate levels. My tutoring style is supportive, clear, and highly tailored to each learner’s needs. I’ve helped students prepare for AP Statistics, understand biostatistics in public health and nursing programs, and build confidence in regression, hypothesis testing, and data interpretation. Whether we’re reviewing concepts, working through problem sets, or preparing research projects, I focus on making sure students truly understand the “why” behind the methods—not just the steps. My goal is to make statistics less intimidating and help students succeed in class and beyond.

Anthropology

Anthropology

I have a BA in Biological Anthropology, where I gained in-depth knowledge of the fundamental concepts of Anthropology and advanced anthropological methods.
Biostatistics

Biostatistics

I completed a Masters's program with a specialization in Epidemiology and Biostatistics. Throughout my training in graduate school, I have taken several biostatistics courses, and I have also assisted with statistical analyses for several research projects.
Data Analysis

Data Analysis

I have extensive experience conducting data analysis in public health, clinical research, and healthcare quality improvement. I specialize in using R, Python, SAS, and SQL to clean, visualize, and analyze complex datasets. My work includes predictive modeling, causal inference, survey analysis, and dashboard development for NIH- and CDC-funded projects. I enjoy helping students and professionals build practical data skills and interpret results with clarity and confidence.
Environmental Science

Environmental Science

I hold a Master of Public Health with expertise in environmental health sciences and energy policy. My research has focused on the environmental impacts of natural gas infrastructure, including analyzing gas leaks and their effects on emergency services and public safety. I’ve used R and GIS tools to study environmental exposure, conduct spatial analysis, and support data-driven environmental policy. I enjoy helping students understand topics like climate change, sustainability, environmental justice, and public health intersections.
Epidemiology

Epidemiology

I completed a Masters's program with a specialization in Epidemiology. Throughout my training in graduate school, I have taken several epidemiology courses that cover things such as infectious disease to basic epidemiological methods. I have also assisted with constructing the methodologies for several epidemiological research projects.
R

R

I hold a Master of Public Health in Epidemiology and Biostatistics from the University of Michigan and have over five years of experience using R for statistical analysis, data visualization, and modeling. I’ve worked extensively with biomedical datasets, including ELISA, clinical trials, infectious disease surveillance, and public health surveys. My expertise includes regression, mixed models, survival analysis, and reproducible reporting using R Markdown. I’ve also trained students and research staff on using R for data cleaning, analysis, and publication-ready graphics.
SAS

SAS

I have used SAS software for the past ~2 years, and I am very familiar with how to setup datasets, and running statistical tests (i.e. logistic regression, t-test, chi-square, etc.), and work through any type of error messages that you may encounter.
Sociology

Sociology

I hold a Master of Public Health with a strong foundation in applied sociology, including training in qualitative research, social determinants of health, and health disparities. I have experience conducting survey research, writing literature reviews, and analyzing sociological data using tools like NVivo, R, and SPSS. My published work explores issues at the intersection of healthcare, race, gender, and institutional systems. I’ve supported undergraduate and graduate students in sociology-related coursework, research papers, and thesis development.
Statistics

Statistics

I have a Master of Public Health in Epidemiology and Biostatistics from the University of Michigan, with over five years of applied experience in statistical analysis. I specialize in both foundational and advanced statistical methods, including regression, hypothesis testing, ANOVA, survival analysis, and multivariate modeling. I’ve supported research in public health, clinical trials, and social science using real-world datasets. I also have experience tutoring undergraduate and graduate students in statistics, helping them understand theory while applying concepts in tools like R, SPSS, and SAS.
