Hello, I’m Josh. I graduated from Michigan State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Human Biology, earning high honors with a 4.0 GPA. I also took the Dental Admission Test (DAT) and earned an academic average score of 29 (580), placing me in the 99.9th percentile of all test takers.

My coursework included advanced science classes such as Biochemistry, Histology, Genetics, Physiology, and other upper-level biology courses. During my studies, I realized that in order to achieve my academic goals, I needed to search for teachers who had the best knowledge of the topic at hand. These teachers also needed to have the ability to communicate their extensive knowledge effectively, so that I can learn the most information in the shortest amount of time. Luckily, I was able to find these teachers, and through working with them, picked up their habits and developed strategies that I now use to help my students succeed.

I have worked with other Human Biology students where I went over the units covered in their upper-level biology classes. Here I worked in both one-on-one and groups of 6-8 students covering topics ranging from cellular respiration and metabolic pathways to the genetic inheritance of sex-linked traits. Additionally, I have gone over DAT prep with other pre-dental students where I created study plans and offered test-taking techniques that lead to great results.

My teaching style is very flexible and personalized to each student’s needs. I accept any resources the student may want to work off of, and I tailor my study plan to fit their strengths and areas of improvement. I want the best for my students, and I have the tools to make that happen.

Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions or to schedule your first lesson. I look forward to working with you.

Extremely knowledgeable, thorough and friendly

My daughter just finished her freshman year of college as a biology major on a pre-health track. While she felt inspired to pursue dentistry, she was unsure about the exact steps required to get there. She needed to speak with someone who had recently navigated the path from undergrad to dental school admission—someone who could share the strategy, milestones, and daily realities of the journey. Specifically, she wanted a frank conversation about the workload, time commitment, and intensity of dental school.Hearing from someone young and currently in the thick of it made all the difference. Josh was exceptional. He took his time providing invaluable insights, breaking down the DAT exam content, and sharing exactly how, when, and what to study. He mapped out the required prerequisites in detail, explaining how to strategically space out and study for these tough classes. He also recommended specific resources, noting which prep bootcamps offer the highest quality material and the best tutors. Furthermore, Josh gave a clear-eyed overview of the financial investment and dental school debt, while reassuring us that the high return on investment makes it completely worth it. He even emphasized the unique benefits of the profession, such as a great work-life balance and working fewer hours compared to other medical fields.Josh was professional, polite, and incredibly easy to talk to. He provided realistic expectations while remaining deeply supportive and motivating. Having access to someone with current, firsthand knowledge was exactly what we were looking for. We fully plan to reach out to Josh again for application help and DAT preparation as our daughter gets further along. Don't hesitate to book with him—he is incredibly generous with his knowledge and eager to help. Thank you, Josh!

Amazing PAT Tutor

Josh is an amazing tutor! He helped me a lot with the PAT section of the DAT by explaining everything clearly and breaking down how to approach each type of problem step by step. He made difficult concepts much easier to understand and gave me strategies that helped improve the way I approached questions. I would definitely recommend Josh to anyone preparing for the DAT!
