Hello, I’m Josh. I graduated from Michigan State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Human Biology, earning high honors with a 4.0 GPA. I also took the Dental Admission Test (DAT) and earned an academic average score of 29 (580), placing me in the 99.9th percentile of all test takers.
My coursework included advanced science classes such as Biochemistry, Histology, Genetics, Physiology, and other upper-level biology courses. During my studies, I realized that in order to achieve my academic goals, I needed to search for teachers who had the best knowledge of the topic at hand. These teachers also needed to have the ability to communicate their extensive knowledge effectively, so that I can learn the most information in the shortest amount of time. Luckily, I was able to find these teachers, and through working with them, picked up their habits and developed strategies that I now use to help my students succeed.
I have worked with other Human Biology students where I went over the units covered in their upper-level biology classes. Here I worked in both one-on-one and groups of 6-8 students covering topics ranging from cellular respiration and metabolic pathways to the genetic inheritance of sex-linked traits. Additionally, I have gone over DAT prep with other pre-dental students where I created study plans and offered test-taking techniques that lead to great results.
My teaching style is very flexible and personalized to each student’s needs. I accept any resources the student may want to work off of, and I tailor my study plan to fit their strengths and areas of improvement. I want the best for my students, and I have the tools to make that happen.
Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions or to schedule your first lesson. I look forward to working with you.
