I am a historian with a bachelor’s degree in history from the University of Olivet and a master’s degree in history from Western Michigan University, where I am completing my PhD. I have several years of experience teaching undergraduate history courses as a teaching assistant and working closely with students from first year through senior level. I help students strengthen their writing, build clear arguments, and use evidence effectively.
I also teach learners of many ages through museum programs, community workshops, and one on one tutoring. These settings include classroom instruction, small group learning, and individualized support. I focus on patient explanation, practical skill building, and helping students gain confidence in both writing and historical thinking.
I specialize in college level writing, historical research methods, primary source analysis, and support for writing intensive history courses. I also work with AP US History and AP World History students on exam preparation, essay structure, and long term skill development.
