Hello:

I am a 47 year old mother that has recently graduated from the University of Maine at Presque Isle with a BA in English and Professional Communication. During my time at school I helped many students with their studying habits as well as helped them grasp the concept of the assignments that were given to us by our instructors. I am still in contact with many of the students that I worked with even though some have gradutated and moved into the work force. I have always had a good relationship with children, whether it was a very young child, teen or young adult. I am very good with shy children as well as children who are more outgoing and energetic.

Since gradutating from college, I have been looking for work with children and have done substitute teaching in the past. I feel that a one on one connection with a student lends itself to a better understanding of the subject. This gives the student and me a chance to trust one another and open up the door for communication. I listen to the student and together we decide what is the best way for them to absorb the information and understand it so that they can excel in school and feel confident. If a student does not feel that they are smart enough or good enough to do the work, then chances are they will lose hope and give up. I believe that this can be avoided by positive reinforcement and individual time. I can teach more than one student at a time, but it is important for the individual to be in a setting that will yield the most benefit from the teaching.

I am willing to work with all ages and have a background of 15+ years in business entrepreneurship. I am able to do public speaking for large groups as well. Let me help you or your child to learn and grow while helping to build confidence.
