I'm Tania, a native French speaker, born and raised in Congo. I moved to the United States in 2013 and lived in Maine since then. I earned my College Degree in Communication and media studies from Southern Maine Community College in 2017. After getting my associate degree, I started using my skills in public speaking, writing, and languages. I worked as a French Interpreter for non-profit companies. I have experience and willingness to work with culturally diverse populations as I have worked with people from different backgrounds, not only as an interpreter but also as a tutor.
In 2018, my passion for teaching came back while interpreting for students with learning disabilities. I enrolled myself in Education at Southern Maine Community College and applied as a substitute teacher at the Westbrook school department. In 2019, I was contacted by a non-profit to work as a teacher assistant with kids from 3-5 years old.
I am currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in French Linguistics at the University of Southern Maine, where I am tutoring French learners’ students and assisting the French teachers.
I developed a love and appreciation for cultures different from my own; I realized that I wanted to teach to guide students to the same excitement that I discovered.
I speak, read and write French, with native fluency and have worked as a volunteer interpreter in a variety of settings. I have been tutoring elementary school, middle school, high school, college students, and adult learners as well as French immersion students for over ten years. I have taught so many students and helped college students and children with their homework and other French learning activities.
I can help you with all aspects of French, including grammar, conversation, vocabulary, and overall fluency, and I will do my best to present the topics in the way that works best for each.
