I fully believe education is the best route to a successful and fulfilling life, and hope to guide those willing to learn towards a bright future.
I have worked with refugees, recent immigrants, and long time immigrants in a volunteer capacity at English for New Americans for the past year. I ran lessons, aided the head teacher, and occasionally filled in for the head teacher in their absence. In this role I learned patience, determination, and supportive techniques in aiding my students along their journey to become more integrated in American society by learning English. I feel very passionate about this, as I have spent a decent amount of time out of the country and know the value of having a grasp on the native language of a country.
Since I was in Middle School I had an affinity for history. In High School I took the highest level history courses, including AP US History and AP World History, receiving a 4 and 5 on the exams, respectively. I received the "History Award" for being passionate about the subject in High School. In College I knew my education would incomplete without having majored in History, so I tacked it on as a second major—forgoing other, potentially easier, classes. In Italy, where I studied History, I was the go-to tutor for my peers for exams and papers. I am very capable of teaching the subject and feel very passionately about it.
