Experienced French Teacher | High School, AP & College French

Anne S.

Bonjour!

I'm a certified French teacher currently teaching in a high school classroom, with many years of experience teaching beginning through advanced French, including AP French. I understand the challenges students face in their French courses, and I enjoy helping them develop the skills, understanding, and confidence they need to succeed.

Whether your student is struggling with grammar, having difficulty keeping up in class, preparing for an exam, or hoping to become a more confident speaker and writer, I tailor our sessions to their individual needs.

My Background

I hold a bachelor's degree from Colby College and a master's degree in French from Middlebury College, along with specialized credentials in Business French and professional translation. I spent four years living and working in France, with additional immersion experiences in Québec and North Africa.

My Approach

I believe that learning French involves much more than memorizing vocabulary and grammar rules. Students need to understand how the language works, make connections, and have opportunities to use what they're learning.

I begin by identifying each student's strengths and areas for growth. Together, we work through challenges, build understanding, and develop strategies that students can use independently. My goal isn't simply to help students complete an assignment or prepare for the next test, but to help them become more confident, capable learners.

I bring patience, humor, flexibility, and enthusiasm to every session. I also welcome adult learners interested in developing their French for travel, work, or personal enrichment.

Let's Get Started!

Tell me a little about your student's French course, what is going well, and where additional support would be helpful. We'll start there!
