I hold dual Master’s degrees in English Language Arts and Special Education (grades 7–12), and bring over a decade of experience as a public school educator. I spent four years teaching in New York City public schools and the past six years teaching in Maine, working with students across middle and high school grade levels. While English Language Arts is my primary specialty, my background in special education has allowed me to teach across subject areas and adapt instruction to meet a wide range of learning needs.
My teaching experience spans multiple instructional settings, including general education classrooms, co-taught inclusion models, self-contained special education programs, behavior-focused programs, small-group instruction, and one-on-one support. I have taught both general education ELA and special education ELA, designing lessons that emphasize strong literacy foundations, critical thinking, and clear written expression. My instructional approach is rooted in explicit teaching, scaffolding, and targeted skill-building, while remaining flexible and responsive to each student’s strengths, challenges, and learning style.
At the core of my teaching philosophy is the belief that meaningful learning begins with strong relationships. I prioritize building trust and positive rapport so students feel confident taking academic risks and engaging more deeply with reading and writing. My tutoring experience began during college as a writing tutor in an ESL program and has continued consistently alongside my full-time teaching career. Through one-on-one tutoring, I support students in developing confidence, independence, and a genuine interest in literacy—whether they are working to strengthen foundational skills, improve academic performance, or grow as thoughtful readers and writers.
