About Ruth

I have had years of experience teaching piano to students of all ages. My pedagogy includes studying with the late Beatrice Hatton Fisk of New London, Ct who was the Headmaster of the music department at Williams, a private institution located on the grounds of Connecticut a College. I then studied with the late Betty Winograd, a graduate of Julliard and spouse of Arthur Winograd, one of the founders of the Julliard Quartet. He was also conductor of the Hartford Symphony Orchestra. My only requirement from my students is a total willingness to complete their assignments and have a desire to learn .
I have experience teaching painting in two primary disciplines- watercolor and acrylics. My primary subject matters are landscapes, sea and boating scenes. I prefer actual photos to use rather than copying a Christmas card. This way, the created work is unique.
I studied Creative writing and English at Mohegan Community College while pursuing a Liberal Arts degree. I also had a semester at Trinity College, Hartford, CT in which the professor concentrated the English course on the improper use of grammar.
The rest of my experience is from my hard work in the business sector. I've had a lifetime of diverse situations that I have learned from. I spent 10 years in the restaurant and motor lodge business as assistant manager. After that, I went to music school and graduated with an Associates Degree. The next span of years was spent in the medical field. All of my jobs were in management which gives me an edge when it comes to helping and training people. I am patient and understand that all persons are different in their ability to learn. I always kept an open door policy with the employees directly under me and also any employee that had a question or concern.
I currently live in an area where reading and writing skills are lacking on a wide scale. I feel that I am more than qualified to tutor a willing student.
