At Middlebury I double majored in Religion and Molecular Biology and Biochemistry. As many students do, I started out pre-med, then quickly realized that medicine was not the path for me. Still, the natural sciences continued to fascinate me!
Naturally, I also love teaching. I spent two summers teaching classrooms of 10-20 high school students AP Biology, AP Chemistry, and remedial biology in Pennsylvania and Virginia. I also have experience 1-on-1 tutoring for organic chemistry and biology at the college level, as well. Whether it's a classroom or a individualized lesson, I've always tried to make my teaching relatable. I always got so frustrated when teachers and professors would keep trying to explain concepts to me using the same jargon over and over again, when what I really needed was a more general conceptual understanding of the subject. I always use that as my starting point, then fill in the details where necessary and allow for individual practice.
