I’m Finnegan. I have 5 years of experience tutoring NREMT/AEMT students with a wide range of their own knowledge-bases, needs, and experience levels. I’m Finnegan. I have 5 years of experience tutoring NREMT/AEMT students with a wide range of their own knowledge-bases, needs, and experience levels. My experience began when I became the Captain of a high-demand EMS training department. I taught twice weekly CPR, Stop the Bleed, and First Aid classes (3-15 students/class) for anyone from internal staff, to workers, to high school/college teachers/students, to external EMS services, to laypeople, etc. (aged ~14-77) requiring my teaching style to become highly adaptable to meet a plethora of different needs from different starting points. I also trained and supervised all other instructors at the service, constantly ensuring a high quality teaching standard was not only met but maintained.
Outside of in-class teaching, I am also a Field Training Officer (FTO). At my former service, I did this for 4 new hires (aged ~17-30) per year. I consistently had to have different ways of teaching the same material in order to ensure every trainee met the same clinical competency standards; not only to be cleared to work on the ambulance, but to be ready to pass their NREMT exam. Of my 8 trainees, 5 went on to test for their NREMT license (4 of whom I tutored privately), all of whom passed and are now active providers. In my current position as a full time partner to a CC-Paramedic on a 911 unit, I am an approved and designated FTO to anyone from newly hired students being put through our in house training program, to freshly licensed EMT-B providers, to seasoned AEMT providers, etc. who onboard with our service; requiring significant flexibility in both in-class and on-call teaching styles as I need to get every student to the same standard from significantly different starting points.
I want to benefit the students I work with as much as possible, so I welcome any suggestions they want to provide. I am easy to reach and quick to reply. Feel free to contact me with any questions or if you’d like to schedule a lesson!
