I have 11 years experience as a Reading Specialist and 3 years of experience as a Special Education teacher. I love working with children and I have been very successful teaching children with learning disabilities to read. Teaching a child to read is a very rewarding experience. I am currently certified as an elementary reading specialist. I have 11 years of experience working with students in grades 1-3. I am also certified in elementary special education and worked for three years as a special education teacher. I have tutored children in grades 1-6 for the past ten years in all elementary subjects. I also worked as a teacher assistant for 3 years in grades 1-3.

By making math games and teaching students strategies, I have been able to help students learn and remember math skills and give them more confidence in themselves.

I am certified as a reading specialist and in special education. In both of these areas, it is very important to teach children study skills. In reading I teach study skills for comprehension, spelling and learning vocabulary. As a special education teacher, it is very important to teach study skills for reading, math, and spelling as many children with learning difficulties have memory issues and need to learn techniques to use ro retain information.

Dedicated and engaging!

Patricia began tutoring my daughter in August 2013. She tutors her two times per week and brings a very dedicated, engaging, and enthusiastic attitude to each session. As such, she gets the most out of each lesson even on those days when my daughter doesn't have the best working attitude. I am very grateful to have Patricia work with my daughter. I realized quickly that Patricia has been working with children for many years. She has brought numerous helpful learning tools, books, flashcards, games and other teaching methods which engages my daughter where she not only learns but has fun learning. Patricia works on both literacy and math (lately concentrating on math more), and the results have been wonderful. The teachers at school have noticed an improvement in my daughter's learning habits and work ethic as well, and her test scores have jumped dramatically in a relatively short time. Thanks Pat!!

Prompt, professional, and my kids really enjoyed her!

Pat tutored my daughters this summer about 5 times each. My kindergartener-going-to-1st-grade had needed some extra help in reading during her K year and we wanted to make sure she continued to progress over the summer. And we were looking for some math and reading exercises for my older daughter (going into 3rd grade). Pat connected with the girls right away and they really enjoyed their time with her. She had worksheets, books, and both homemade and store-bought games to keep them engaged. She lent us books and games between each session so we could review at home. My K daughter is now reading at the level she needs for Nov/Dec of her 1st grade year, which is great progress. And I can send both girls back to school knowing that they have continued to learn this summer! We would highly recommend Pat.
