Hello! I'm Keri, a patient, collaborative certified teacher with three decades of experience helping learners unlock their potential. I focus on ELA, reading, writing, proofreading/editing/revising, speech/debate, Social Studies, AP, SAT/ACT, college application/interview, career application/interview, PRAXIS Social Studies and English, and CBEST/CSET. My sessions foster curiosity and build confidence through customized lessons designed to meet unique student needs. I make complex material fun, meaningful, and easy to digest by using real-world examples and interactive methods. My students improve coursework, assessment, and final scores by at least one letter grade; most improve standardized test scores by over 100 points; many are accepted into top universities. I specialize in critical thinking, written + oral communication, and history. I hold a Bachelor's degree in Communication, a Master's in American & New England Studies, and a California Professional Clear Social Studies Credential. After work in Fortune 500 corporate finance, I followed my heart and focused on student content mastery and critical thinking application to real-life situations, crafted unique and exciting lessons for high school students, and became certified in three states. I currently serve online clients across the US and Canada. Since 2022, I have tutored teacher candidates online to help them pass their CBEST, and my clients pass. I passed the PRAXIS Social Studies and the CBEST around the same time in the late 1990s to earn my CA Clear Credential. I have been tutoring teachers and teacher candidates to prep for PRAXIS Social Studies and PRAXIS ELA/Reading/Writing since 2022. My clients have been from all over the United States, and I've become familiar with each state's teaching requirements regarding PRAXIS so I not only tutor for the test, but I also operate within any additional unique regional aspects included or added to the assessment. I have also tutored Education PhD candidates for writing, editing, and revising. Outside of providing educational writing and editing services to clients, I am an author with short stories and poems published in literary journals and anthologies. In my writing world, I am edited by fellow writers and other industry-related professionals, and I pass on learned techniques, insights, and updates to accepted practices to my clients.

Great tutor for Teens

Both of my teenage children (14 & 16) are currently taking classes for over two months with Keri, and the feedback from each of them has been overwhelmingly positive. I was specifically looking for someone who could truly engage them—someone who connects well with teens and can elevate their overall proficiency in ELA over summer vacation and prepare them for their school. Keri definitely exceeded my expectations and made is effective and enjoyable for them.
