I'm Alison Rosengren, and I'm a writer, teacher, and tutor dedicated to helping my students build confidence as writers and communicators. I studied education and creative writing at Northwestern University, where I graduated magna cum laude, then moved to Spain to teach English as a second language. I'm Alison Rosengren, and I'm a writer, teacher, and tutor dedicated to helping my students build confidence as writers and communicators. I studied education and creative writing at Northwestern University, where I graduated magna cum laude, then moved to Spain to teach English as a second language. Now, I work online with students all around the world. My specialties include application and academic essay writing, proofreading, and English.

I work both synchronously and asychronously, meaning that I schedule meetings with my students to brainstorm essay topics, create outlines, and touch base about edits, and I ask students to share Google Docs with me so that I can provide suggested revisions and comments directly on their essay.

I'm passionate about helping my students become stronger writers throughout their essay revision process. I consider myself an enthusiastic coach and a thoughtful editor. I value getting to know each of my students and helping them feel comfortable writing. When I'm not working, I'm probably playing soccer or writing my own nonfiction.

College Essay Coaching—
I've been coaching high school students through the college essay process for four years. I believe that a strong personal essay is the key to a stand-out college application. I work with students from the brainstorming, outlining, drafting, editing, and perfecting stages of their essays. In our first meeting, my students and I get to know each other, and we discuss what makes a great college essay. Next, we select the essay prompt that best enables them to tell their unique story. Then, they write their first draft according to the outline we've developed together. The rest of our work can be asynchronous, trading essay drafts back and forth. I provide suggested edits and comments on my students' work, teaching them to craft concise sentences and to write with imagery and emotion.
